Recent rain and snow coupled with lower temperatures have reduced fire danger in Bridger-Teton National Forest and fire and smoking restrictions have been lifted. Visitors may now have either wood or charcoal campfires within the following  guidelines:
  • In Bridger-Teton National Forest, campfires are allowed in both established campgrounds and at backcountry sites, following minimum impact “leave no trace” guidelines.
  • Backcountry users are asked to make fires only where previously established fire rings exist or in small fire pits which can be covered with soil after fire is extinguished.
Forest users are reminded that onehalf of all wildfires in this area are caused by humans. Many of these human-caused firesoccur during the fall season. Visitors are asked to extinguish fires thoroughly before leaving campsites, to be careful while smoking, and to use care in all activities that could cause fires. Fire danger is currently moderate. However, dry weather conditions may cause higher fire danger in coming days and week  Backcountry users including hunters, backpackers and anglers are cautioned that unattended warming fires have been a significant problem this time of year.

FIRE DANGER IS MODERATE
