Backcountry users including hunters, backpackers and anglers are cautioned that fire danger remains very high and open fires in the backcountry are prohibited. Unattended warming fires have been a problem this time of year. Updated closure maps are available on the Teton Fires website. All roads, lodging, stores and most campgrounds and trails in the Bridger-Teton
National Forest are open. Fire restrictions on the Bridger-Teton National
Forest were modified on September 13, 2000 to allow the use of enclosed
stoves with approved spark arrestors. Smoking is allowed only in an enclosed
vehicle or building, in developed recreation areas, orwhile stopped in
a three foot diameter area cleared of grass and brush. Chainsaws, generators,
or other internal combustion engines are allowed only with an approved
and working spark arrestor. Backcountry users should check on current restrictions
at local ranger stations and visitor centers.
