Scam Alert – Town of Pinedale impersonation

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Pinedale have received reports of a new scam targeting residents involved in planning and zoning applications.
What’s happening:
Scammers are locating publicly-filed planning/zoning documents and using that information to create fraudulent, official-looking packets. These documents may include town logos and appear legitimate, but they are NOT from the Town of Pinedale.
Victims are being contacted and instructed to pay thousands of dollars in fees, often through:
Wire transfers
Online payment links
Unverified payment accounts
Red flags to watch for:
Requests for payment outside normal Town channels
Email addresses that do NOT end in an official government domain
Typos or slight inconsistencies in documents
Urgent demands for payment
IMPORTANT:
The Town of Pinedale will NOT request payments in this manner.
If you receive one of these notices:
DO NOT send money
DO NOT click links or provide personal information
