Death Notice – Donna Hegardt

With profound sorrow we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Marie Hegardt, on December 25th, 2025 at her home in Boulder, Wyoming.
Born April 20th, 1955, in Mankato, Minnesota, Donna is predeceased by her first husband, Frank Hegardt Jr, of Santa Rosa, California, and her second husband, John Hegardt, of Boulder, Wyoming, her loving mother Gertrud Delrogh, stepfather Philip, and Father Lloyd Spangenburg.
Donna Marie is survived by her three sons, Henry (Hank) Hegardt, her grandsons, Sam Hegardt, Henry Hegardt Jr, and Mason Hegardt who reside in Santa Rosa, Ca; sons, Jonathan Hegardt Jr, daughter-in-law Miranda and granddaughter, O Hannah, and her youngest son Jacob Hegardt; both sons continue to live in Wyoming. Donna is also survived by her three sisters, Ruth Ann Wilks, Deborah Whitt, and JoAnn Urata, all of Las Vegas, Nevada, and her Aunt Ruth Young, nephew Zachary Hall, nieces Jennifer Kelly Halper, and Kristina Vellaz.
Donna’s innate sense of play coupled with her spontaneity and charm, shall be remembered with deep reverence by her remaining sisters, family and friends, as she would often bring humor and lightness to even the most challenging of circumstances. You never knew when Donna would burst through the door full of fun and mischief for a most memorable visit where laughter was always the order of the day, her zest for life was contagious, her charisma lighting up every room she entered. Donna's capacity for love was endless and her generosity of heart knew no bounds.
An Olympic class swimmer who towered over her competitors at 6ft tall, Donna never lost a race; ever graceful, she excelled at all meets winning countless gold medals in every category as a Junior Olympian; her skill as such earned admiration and respect from even her fiercest rivals, as her sisters watched in awe with each stroke she mastered. After each race, she would delight in cheering on her sisters with their meets as well.
Having resided in Santa Rosa, California, she worked as a certified Brick Mason for the premier construction company of Northern California, Hegardt, Bertacco and Sons, Inc. Donna would eventually move to Las Vegas, Nevada, with her family and sisters, later finding her way to Wyoming where she enjoyed the wide-open spaces, going fishing, hiking in the hills of Wyoming and often cooking over an open campfire under the stars with her beloved sons and husband. Donna lived her life with a remarkable authenticity and a spirit unburdened by convention. Ever resilient, she remains an inspiration to those who knew and continue to love her, always and forever.
Memorial donations can be made in her name to The Boys and Girls Club of America.
