Memorial Service for Juli Spitzer Feb. 15 in Pinedale
by Covill Funeral Home
February 7, 2025
Juliet Louise Saxbe Spitzer was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, and wife. She accepted everybody into her world. She never met a stranger and led many different lives in many milieus from the wilds of Wyoming to United States Embassy in India.
Juli was born in Toledo, Ohio on July 11, 1944 and died on February 2nd, 2025 in Pinedale. She grew up in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, where she often spoke of exploring frog ponds and alleyways, stopping in on various neighbors and friends. In her teenage years she could be seen from the road riding her horse bareback at Jubarock Farm.
Juli attended Columbus School for Girls in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from Mechanicsburg High School, followed by the University of Wyoming at Laramie.
Life really started when Juli went West. She loved the open range and never tired of participating in the cowgirl life from baking bread to moving cows. The romance of the West captured her heart and informed her values, though it’s the people whose lives she touched that made her part of the fabric of Sublette and Teton Counties.
Juli is survived by her husband, Horton Spitzer; her brothers, Charles (Rocky) Saxbe, William (Bart) Saxbe; her children, Charles T Lopeman, Elizabeth Carey Lopeman, and Lydda Jennings (Jen) Givens; her grandchildren, Trevor Hill, Charles Samuel Lopeman (Sam), Richard (Buck) Schouboe.
She is preceded in death by her parents William Bart Saxbe, Ardith Kleinhans Saxbe, and her grandson, Charles Reid Schouboe.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 15th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew’s in the Pines Episcopal Church in Pinedale. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Juli’s memory can be made to St. Andrew’s Church, P.O. Box 847, Pinedale, WY 82941.
