Horse Creek Fire July 20, 2024

BONDURANT, WYOMING — Tomorrow, Saturday, July 20, 2024, the Wyoming Type 3, Team 2 will transfer command of the Horse Creek Fire to a local Type 4 Incident Commander (IC).

The fire continues to burn in a remote, mountainous area in steep, rugged terrain, though minimal fire activity has occurred. Safety is the number one priority through the transition of command on the Horse Creek Fire. Fire managers and personnel continue to assess the area and carry out suppression efforts.

Bridger-Teton National Forest staff will remain available to support the local Type 4 IC on the Horse Creek Fire. The fire remains at 43 acres, with minimal growth over the last several days. The fire is 10% contained with continuing suppression efforts utilizing natural features. Fire crews have positioned hose along the North Horse Creek drainage. A saw line was also completed, connecting natural features together to build containment lines.

A reduced Horse Creek Fire Area, Road, and Trail Closure Order (click here for map) remains in effect for public and firefighter safety.
