Celebration of Life for Dr. Bo Williamson Feb. 3
February 1, 2024

Dr. Bo Williamson was born Don Ira Williamson Jr. in Big Spring, Texas on August 8, 1954. He passed away January 21, 2024. He was the eldest child born to Don Ira Williamson and Sally McMakin Williamson. His father was an Air Force pilot that was shot down over Vietnam in 1965. The remains were recovered in 1989. The family returned to Kentucky in 1965.

Bo attended Ballard High School in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated in 1972. He graduated from Centre College in 1976. While at Centre, he played soccer and was instrumental in leading, literally and figuratively, the streaking craze on campus. He went on to attend and graduate from the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981.

His passion was the performance of the veterinary profession. He was an excellent veterinarian and loved working on all species during his career. He started practice in Torrington, Wyoming and finished in Pinedale, Wyoming. During the 40 years in between, he was licensed in 14 states. He enjoyed partnering with young veterinarians who needed help either financial or business management or medical mentoring. He served in that role many times across the United States while he continued to practice in his own hospital.

Bo was instrumental in the formation of management groups for veterinary hospital owners. These groups provided business, financial, and medical coaching and learning opportunities for doctors and practice administrators around the United States and Canada.

His return to Wyoming, was the fulfillment of his lifelong dream, which was to live and practice in this great state.

His second passion was writing and visiting friends and family. He was a substitute grandfather, father, uncle, friend for people of all ages and walks of life. He was greatly loved. He will be sorely missed.

Bo is survived by his sister Nancy Majors (Roy), nieces Shannon Majors, Jennifer Ethridge (Mark), Rachael Majors, brother Bob, nephew Robert Williamson (Renee) and niece Megan Rose (Scott) along with two great nieces and four great nephews.

This history of his life was written by sister Nancy, brother Bob, brother-in-law Roy, and friend Chuck Keiser.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday February 3rd at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew's in the Pines Episcopal Church. A second service will be held in Kentucky during March. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to MESA Therapeutic Horsemanship (mesarides.org).
