Obituary: Jep Richie
Funeral in May, date TBA
April 6, 2023

Jeptha Everett "Jep" Richie, 91, of Boulder, passed away on April 4th, 2023 at the Sublette Center in Pinedale. He was born on April 18, 1931, to Everett "Ebb" Richie and Ellen Williams-Richie in Green River, WY.

Jep spent the first part of his life on the family's 1914 homestead on Muddy Creek. He attended the Big Sandy school and graduated from Pinedale High School.

At a rodeo in June 1955, Jep met Barbara Vaughn, Lander's rodeo queen. The two married on September 11, 1955, and had two daughters, Carole and Lynne, and one son, Eb.

Jep was proud of his fine Hereford cow herd, his good horses, and being a good neighbor. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and ranching legacy.

Jep is survived by his brother, Norm; his children, Carole and Eb; his grandchildren, Taylor 'Bardin' Leingang, Mitch Latham, Ivy 'Latham' Pazour, Jeptha, Devon, Trista, and Cinch Richie; and five great-grandchildren.

Jep was preceded in death by his mother, father, wife Barbara Richie, sister Verla Sommers, daughter Lynne Latham, and grandson Garrett Bardin.

In true ranching fashion, a memorial will be held at the end of May when the snow has melted and the brandings are done. Jep will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
