The 2020 US Census is underway
Have you responded yet?
April 14, 2020
The 2020 Census is underway and more households across America are responding every day. Over 70 million households have responded to date, representing 48.1% of all households in America.
The U.S. Constitution mandates a census of the population every 10 years. The 2020 Census will count everyone who lives in the U.S. as of April 1, 2020. Census statistics help determine the number of seats each state holds in the U.S. House of Representatives and how billions of dollars in federal funds will be allocated by state, local, and federal lawmakers every year for the next 10 years.
It’s easy to respond to the 2020 Census online or by phone and only takes a few minutes of your time. Everyone can respond to the 2020 Census online in one of 13 languages, with assistance available in many more.
Paper notices going out soon: About 64 million households across the nation will receive a paper questionnaire in the coming days. People are encouraged to go ahead and respond now online or by phone to get counted. If you receive mail after you have responded, you should disregard it. Editor’s note: Census forms will not be mailed to PO Boxes, only to those who get their mail to a physical address. Since most of Sublette County gets their mail via PO Box delivery, it is even more important for people to respond to the Census via the online or phone method. After May 1st, census takers will go to physical addresses that still have not responded, which is not an ideal situation for either the resident or unlucky census taker in this coronavirus pandemic situation. Please, if your household has not yet responded, go to https://2020census.gov and do it now. It only takes a couple of minutes.
If you have not yet responded to the 2020 US Census, please take a moment to do so right now and get it done. The last thing anyone wants to have happen right now is for a real person to have to come knock on your door to get your location contacted because they haven’t yet heard from your address. They don’t want to have to go out to your place, and you probably don’t want a census taker stranger knocking on your door during this coronavirus pandemic. Only one person per address needs to fill out the census, but they need to document everyone in that household (which includes name and date of birth for each person.)
Please, if your household hasn’t yet filled out the census form, click on this link and do it now: https://2020census.gov
