Update on the fire at White Pine Ski Lodge
Cause determined to be a propane leak associated with a furnace
August 26, 2019
Sublette County Unified Fire has issued an update on the fire which burned the White Pine Ski Lodge on July 12, 2019: "The investigation was a multiagency effort involving local, state and insurance agency investigators. Fire Investigators have completed the investigation to the origin and cause of the White Pine Ski Lodge Fire. The fire was ruled an accidental fire caused by a propane leak associated with one of the furnaces which found an ignition source in the lodge."
July 12, 2019 background Emergency responders were notified of the report of a wildland fire at the White Pine Ski Resort in Pinedale at approximately 1:20 AM on July 12, 2019. Emergency responders arrived on scene to an active fire in the lodge itself instead of a wildland fire. There were no injuries to responders and no extension to the neighboring structures or forest. Fire crews contained the fire to the lodge building and monitored the surrounding areas to ensure the fire didn’t spread to the surrounding forest or buildings. The response included multiple personnel from Sublette County Unified Fire, Sublette County Sherriff’s Office, Sublette County EMS, Sublette County Emergency Management and Bridger Teton National Forest. The cause is still under investigation.
