Update on GoFundMe campaign set up for border wall
Campaign changed to funding building portions of wall on private land

Back in December 2018 we wrote a story highlighting the effort by a triple amputee, Purple Heart recipient, veteran in Florida who has set up a GoFundMe account for people to contribute money to help build the wall along the Mexican border. That campaign has been changed a little bit. Rather than give the funds raised to the government, the funds will be used to pay to build portions of the wall on private land on the southern border by working with willing landowners.

Anyone who donated to the earlier campaign before January 11th needs to give consent to have their earlier donation go towards the new effort. There is a button on the gofundme web page that can be clicked to give consent for the donation to be switched. Donors who do not consent will have their money refunded after 90 days. The campaign has raised over $20 million so far.

Campaign founder Brian Kolfage said, "Eight days before Christmas I started this GoFundMe campaign because I was tired of watching the U.S. government’s inability to secure our southern border. Like most Americans, I see the porous southern border as a national security threat and I refuse to allow our broken political system to leave my family and my country vulnerable to attack....Our highly experienced team is highly confident that we can complete significant segments of the wall in less time, and for far less money, than the federal government, while meeting or exceeding all required regulatory, engineering, and environmental specifications. Our team strongly believes that we can complete our segments of the wall for less than half of the government’s estimated costs on a per mile basis." 100% of donations will go to the Trump Wall.
