Pinedale held their annual Mountain Man Christmas on Saturday, December 8th. The event is the town’s kick-off for the Christmas season. Festivities were coordinated by the Sublette County Chamber of Commerce and included businesses being open late for a Shop and Stroll.

At 5:30PM was the official tree lighting at the courthouse. Sublette County Commissioner Joel Bousman, along with grandchildren, had the honor of flipping the remote switch to turn on the lights on the big trees and shrubbery on the courthouse lawn. There was a new lighting display arrangement this year, thanks to the careful design and installation work of the folks with Sublette County maintenance. After the tree lighting, there were carolers singing Christmas songs to brighten everyone’s spirits in the chilly night.

Many people came out for the event. The Sublette County Chamber of Commerce visitor center was open for a place to warm up by their wood stove and provide restrooms. In front, girls from the Wyld Dance Company had hot chocolate and snacks available for refreshments.

At 6:00PM there was the annual lighted float holiday parade down Pine Street. After the parade, there were activities for children at the Pinedale Library. Many businesses on main street stayed open late and held open houses for the event. The temperature cooperated and it was a pleasant evening for the event.

We've highlighted some of the cool things we found in some of the local stores that were open late in the evening, but we didn't have time to make it into every store. If you are looking for a unique gift for that special someone, Pinedale stores offer many very different items you won't find in the Big Box stores. Save gas money and support local businesses by shopping local stores first and for your last minute gift search. Almost all stores offer gift certificates too, if you aren't sure of the exact fit or taste in selection. Many stores also offer online shopping, for out-of-area folks who can't walk into the stores.
