A Matter of Life and Death
The pronghorn mother and the coyote

A pronghorn doe in the process of giving birth found herself having to face off against a coyote laying in wait. We observed the unfolding scene and peril while on a drive down Paradise Road near Boulder on Sunday morning, June 12th. She charges the hovering predator and it runs. The scene unfolds over just a couple short minutes. We don’t know the end of this story. They both ran off over a hill out of sight.

Watching See that magpie sitting on the fence post watching the scene unfold . . .	A second danger This magpie is as much a threat as the coyote. They are notorious for swooping in on newborn wildlife and calves and pecking their eyes out.	Following the coyote The mother follows the path of the running coyote and disappears over the knoll.
