Shuttle services available to White Pine Ski Area
Will run Dec. 19 – 31, 2015
December 15, 2015
Over the school break, anyone needing assistance in getting to White Pine Ski Area will be able to ride the Lion’s Bus. The bus is scheduled to run from December 19th through 31st. It will depart twice daily, 8:30AM and 11:30AM from the Wrangler Gym parking lot in Pinedale. The shuttle bus will return to Pinedale from the ski hill at 4PM. White Pine will be open for the Christmas holiday, however there will not be shuttle services that day.
The shuttle bus is available to everyone. Children riding alone need to be 8+ years of age. The fare is $5.00 each way and reservations (with kid’s name and age) should be made by texting or calling 307-690-1764.
The reservation will be accepted by GOTCO, the transportation arm of the Great Outdoor Shop, now owned by Lwyn and Kate Dahl. "We are well used to driving in winter conditions. Castle Rock has kindly donated studded tires, and we are excited about the twice daily trip up to White Pine," said Kate Dahl. "Our bus will be very recognizable. It will display magnets indicating the bus service as well as names of our sponsors and have a roof rack to carry skis."
The shuttle marks the first major project of the White Pine Foundation (WPF), a non-profit organization whose focus is to assist with making White Pine more accessible to all. Kari DeWitt, Secretary of the WPF said, "The bus is a response to a number of requests to help working parents over the school holidays with getting their children up to White Pine. We will collect daily ridership figures to assist in determining if there is an ongoing need for a shuttle."
The shuttle has been made possible by generous donations from the Pinedale Lions Club, Castle Rock Dodge, Boxcar Arts, and the White Pine Foundation.
