Sommers Homestead Living History Museum opens June 6th
Interpreting homestead era history in Sublette County

The Sommers Homestead Living History Museum will open for the season on Friday, June 6th. The complex is managed by the Sublette County Historical Society, Green River Valley Museum and siblings Jonita and Albert Sommers. It is in its third season of operation. Its purpose is to interpret the late 1800s to mid-1900s homestead era history in Sublette County. Featured homestead families this year are the Mickelsons and Jorgensens. The complex is on a little more than an acre of land and is open to the public for viewing of the two-story log homestead house, ice house (with ice), root cellar, shop, bunkhouse, and more. The site is open for visitors June, July & August, Fridays & Saturdays from 10AM to 3PM. Admission is by donation. The historical site is located 7.3 miles south on the East Green River Road (turn south at the Cora Y off of US 191 and stay on the high road that follows the Green River south. More info
