Obituary - Patricia Burton

Patricia Obray Burton, 80, of Rexburg, died Sunday, May 25, 2014. She was born December 30, 1933, in Arimo, Idaho to Ralph and Oriole England Obray.
Pat lived most of her growing up years in Pocatello where she met Graydon Burton when she was 16. They were married on October 31, 1952, for time and all eternity, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
She and Graydon had five children, Ken, Dave and Laurie who were born in Pocatello. They moved their family to Minden, NV for Graydon to teach school. Sharlene and Kristine were born in Carson City, NV.
Pat worked for the U.S. Government Extension Service teaching proper nutrition and cooking skills for a few years. She was always kind and generous to anyone in need of food or help. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints and served in many positions; including relief society and primary presidents, Chorister, young women’s president and head cook for church camps and Boy Scout Camps. She was also in 4-H as a cook and leader.
She was active in local politics and was chairman of the Carousel Restoration Committee in Porter Park. She and Graydon served four church missions together. She was an active member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers in the Sarah Ann Barnes Camp and the Army Reserve Wives.
Pat loved to do genealogy, read and do craft projects with her daughters. She taught many skills to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was her joy, her love and her fulfillment. She will be missed.
She is survived by her husband, Graydon Burton of Rexburg; children, Kenneth Graydon (Stacy) Burton of Rexburg; David L. (Shuen) Burton of McMinnville, OR; Laurie (John) Pessetto of Dallas, TX; Sharlene (John) Lewis of Rexburg, ID and Kristine (Chuck) Bacheller of Pinedale, WY; siblings, Kay (Betty) Obray of Pocatello, ID; Larry (Alice) Obray of Riverside, CA; Martha (Jerry) Martin of Jerome, ID; and Jack (Janet) Obray of McKay, ID; 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Michelle Lewis.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 30, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in the Summerwood LDS Chapel with Bishop Kory Lofthouse officiating. The family received friends on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Flamm Funeral home and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the church. Burial was in the Rexburg Cemetery.
