White Out A sudden squall brought white out conditions between Pinedale and Trappers Point on US 191 on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 16th. Thankfully the dark road pavement and highway guideposts made it possible to inch to the safety of a pullout. Seeing where to drive would have been virtually impossible on white snow-covered roads. Strong winds are forecast through the afternoon on Sunday.

Strong winds buffeted the Upper Green River Valley Sunday afternoon picking up snow and creating near white-out conditions in places. This was what it was like driving on US 191 near Duck Creek around 1PM Sunday when a wall of wind and blowing snow suddenly hit. Visibility dropped to near nothing and driving became a challenge to see from marker post to marker post.

Strong winds were also reported at the same time in the Upper Green Kendall Valley with resident reporting high winds and visibility reduced to near nothing. 50 inches of snow in seven days has covered the fence posts and signs which serve as guide markers.

The National Weather Service has posted warnings about strong sudden wind gusts and dangerous conditions for lightweight and high profile vehicles. Sustained winds of 30 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 to 55 mph will be possible across Sublette County and southern Lincoln County Sunday afternoon.
