Update on search for missing hiker – Tuesday, July 2, 2013

Pinedale, Wyoming Tuesday, July 2, 2013 / 0800 Hrs MST
The search continues this morning for missing hiker James "Randy" Udall. Favorable weather conditions exist for search teams on the ground and for the aerial assets above. Thirty searchers from multiple agencies including Tip Top Search and Rescue, Fremont County SAR, Teton County SAR and the U.S. Forest Service are actively searching the area on foot. Sublette County’s contract helicopter along with a helicopter of the Air National Guard are over the search area, a third helicopter will join the aerial search today.
Mr. Udall, an avid and experienced hiker, was reported overdue by his family on Friday, June 28th - 2 days after his planned exit from the back-country.

Udall is 61-years old, 6’4" tall, 200 pounds with gray/brown hair and blue eyes. Anyone who has been in the backcountry recently and may have seen a male matching this description is asked to please contact the Sublette County Sheriff’s Office at 307-367-4378.
