Temporary delays expected on Granite Creek Road
by Bridger Teton National Forest
June 19, 2012
The Bridger Teton National Forest will be conducting road maintenance and enhancement operations on the Granite Creek Road from the swimming pool down to the Little Granite turnoff from June 19 to July 16, 2012.
Granite Creek Road is approximately 26-miles south of Jackson located just off of Highway 189/191. The surface of the road will be treated with a mobile rock crusher that will effectively create new aggregate in place and remove the holes in the road. The road will be bladed and rolled once the crushing operations are complete.
There will be other supportive heavy equipment operating around the mobile rock crusher on the Forest road. Throughout the construction processes, there will be a need for temporary or intermittent traffic delays for safety reasons due to the nature of the mobile rock crusher. Engineers and Forest employees working on sight will assist vehicles traveling through that stretch of Forest road when it is safe to do so. However, visitors to the Bridger-Teton should be prepared for delays.
Questions regarding this road reconstruction project may be directed to Darren Knuteson or Mary Cernicek at 307-739-5535 or 307-739–5564, respectively.
