Summer food preservation series workshops offered

The University of Wyoming Extension Office is offering workshops on various methods of food preservation. Participants can sign up for individual classes or the entire series. Classes to be held in the Lovatt Room of the Sublette County Library in Pinedale.
Tuesday, June 19, 2012: Canning Basics for Safe Preservation - Water Bath Canning Canning safety, types of equipment, proper canning method. 5:30-7:30PM.
Tuesday, July 17, 2012: Freezing and Drying – Preserving for quality results Learn the basics of drying fruits, vegetables, herbs, leathers and jerkies. 5:30-7:30PM.
Tuesday, August 21, 2012: Getting Over Your Fear of Canning Learn how a pressure canner works and how to safely can low-acid foods. Bring in your canner lid for dial gauge testing. 5:30-7:30PM.
Tuesday, September 18, 2012: Learning the Basics of Fermentation Learn the science of preparing and storing krauts and other fermented vegetables. 5:30-7:30PM.
