Mid-May climb to the top of Angel Peak in the Wind River Mountains
May 13, 2012
Hank Williams and Shawn Streeter decided to make an early spring venture into the Wind River Mountains to summit Angel Peak (12,402’). It’s still winter in the high country, so this was an over-snow/ice ascent and descent. Their friend, Dave Bell, decided to see if he could see them on the top of the mountain from his house in Pinedale. They left Elkhart Park at 4:30AM on Friday, May 11th. At 2:20pm they called from the summit, and Dave shot this image with the 400mm f2.8 mounted on a Canon 5d Mark II. "I was uncertain if they would have cell service, so, I began shooting at around 12:30 and the two bumps on the tip of Angel Peak were not obvious earlier. I conclude the two bumps are Sean and Hank." You be the judge!
