Pinedale Middle School 7th-grader, Elizabeth Chambers, was chosen as the Wyoming State Finalist for her drawing in the Doodle 4 Google contest. She was recognized in an all-school assembly on Wednesday, May 2nd.
Search-engine giant, Google, invited students in the United States to participate in a contest to use their artistic talents to redesign Google’s homepage logo. The winning artwork will be seen by millions of Google webpage users. The theme was "If I could travel in time, I'd visit…" The winning student artist will have their artwork appear on the Google homepage. They will also receive prizes, and as a special bonus, the winning artwork will appear on a limited edition of Crayola's iconic 64 box.
There were 250 State Finalists. Their doodles were selected to be the best among a total of more than 114,000 entries from across the country. The 250 State Finalists were chosen by Google employees and guest judges. Google says the finalists represent the highest ranked doodle from each grade group from each state. Entries from the District of Columbia were judged along with entries from Maryland. Elizabeth calls her drawing, 'Googlehenge.'
