Photos by Bill Winney November 11, 2011 Bill Winney sent in photos taken on Wednesday, Nov. 8 following the old Lander Trail Road near Buckskin Crossing. His pictures follow the trail as it runs on the western slope of the Wind River Mountains from Buckskin Crossing on the Big Sandy River to the junction with US 28 on the west side of South Pass. "It covers a very sparse 40 miles of southeast Sublette. It's a very beautiful part of the county in its own way." He said the route is still fully passable as of the time of these photos. "There is one 2-1/2 mile stretch on the eastern end of Sublette 132, the stretch marked as the Lander Cutoff, that has a couple of inches of packed snow on it. It's passable but 4-WD is a good idea. Most of the way is dirt." |
