PINEDALE – Thanks to a grant from Encana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc., Sublette County residents will enjoy year-long arts programming, including a season ticket performing arts series, a free summer park series and arts education in Pinedale and Big Piney schools.
The Pinedale Fine Arts Council received $8,000 from Encana USA to provide affordable, culturally diverse programming, as well as education and entertainment for people of all ages.
"The arts are an additional form of communication," said Dana Tully, PFAC executive director. "We hope our efforts will instill a life-long basis for participation and enjoyment of different art forms, and an understanding of how they are involved in all disciplines."
According to Tully, specific goals for the program include expanding the Dancers’ Workshop residency in Pinedale schools with a free public performance, developing the efforts of the Visual Arts Committee to incorporate a mural project, downtown rotating sculpture and Arts Symposium in 2012, and extending outreach to the Big Piney and Marbleton communities.
"The Pinedale Fine Arts Council offers outstanding activities in Sublette County communities that stimulate the imagination and promote an appreciation of different cultures and traditions," said Randy Teeuwen, Encana USA community relations advisor. "We are happy to support providing access to art enrichment and appreciation in the area."
In addition, the PFAC plans to boost school outreach by working with teachers to bring artists whom they feel will benefit their students and give them the opportunity to interact with non-resident professional artists in a classroom setting.
"Our project not only supplements and enhances the school districts’ curriculums, but also helps meet state education standards and allows students an opportunity for artistic exposure that would not otherwise be available," stated Tully.
The PFAC has also received funding from Sublette County BOCES #1, Western Sublette County BOCES #9, the Sublette County Recreation Board, Town of Pinedale, Wyoming Arts Council, WESTAF, Tegeler & Associates, and the Wyoming Community Foundation. Encana USA has been a solid supporter of the PFAC since 2003, contributing more than $42,000.
"Encana’s contribution ensures that the future of Sublette County is one deeply rooted in the arts," said Tully. "We are grateful that Encana supports educational and cultural outreach activities throughout our county. Thank you for helping make the Pinedale Fine Arts Council a viable institution."
