Aspen Creek Fire The Aspen Creek fire is approximately 32 miles southeast of Pinedale.

The Aspen Creek Fire is burning on the Bridger-Teton National Forest approximately 32 miles southeast of Pinedale, Wyoming near Muddy Ridge.

The smoke was reported to Sublette County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday afternoon September 20. Resources from Teton Interagency Fire were dispatched to the fire which burned approximately ¼ acre. The lighting-caused fire was started from a storm the previous week and is burning in heavy dead and downed bug killed timber. Fire Managers from the Forest are managing the fire to meet multiple objectives, including firefighter and public safety, as well as allowing the natural ecological process provided by wildfire. In the backcountry, fire in its various forms is the primary tool for improving vegetation and wildlife habitat.

Fire activity increased on Saturday afternoon and is now approximately 15 acres. Smoke can be seen from Daniel and surrounding area.

There are no closures associated with the fire at this time but hunters and recreationists to the area are advised to stay informed on current weather forecasts and fire behavior and have alternate routes planned. Numerous hazards exist and visitors are encouraged to avoid being in or near the vicinity of the fire.
