Streeper maintains overall lead in IPSSSDR - Pinedale Stage Stop
by International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race
February 1, 2011

Blayne Streeper from Fort Nelson, British Columbia, posted the fastest time for the third day in a row in Day Four of the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race (IPSSSDR). His Day Four time was 2:51:32, representing an average of 13.3 miles per hour for the Big Piney/Marbleton stage.

Aaron Burmeister from Nenana, Alaska, came in second for Day Four with 2:52:01; Aaron Peck from Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada, was third with 2:55:13.

In cumulative times, Streeper continues to lead the pack with a total time of 8:16:47. Burmeister is second with 8:34:48; and Peck is third with 8:35:08.

Following the race, teams departed for Alpine where they will attend dinner at the Fire Hall at 6:30 p.m. On February 2, the race will start in Alpine behind Bank of Alpine/Dollar Store at 9 a.m.

The 2011 IPSSSDR continues this week through Kemmerer/Diamondville, Evanston, and Lyman/Mountain View, Wyo., before arriving in Park City, Utah, for the final stage and awards ceremony on Saturday, February 5. With its unique "stage stop" racing format, the IPSSSDR stops in a different community each night, allowing Wyoming’s host towns to show their hospitality: Festivities for mushers and spectators alike include pancake feeds, dog parades, banquets, carnivals, and snowshoe softball.

The Pedigree® brand actively supports a wide range of programs that promote responsible pet ownership and highlight the contributions dogs make to society.

The International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race, the largest dog sled race in the lower 48 states, was founded in 1996 by Frank Teasley to make sled dog racing more accessible to the public.
