BIG PINEY – The Big Piney Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will be closed temporarily beginning today (Wednesday, February 23rd) while workers attempt to repair a pipe that froze and affected the building yesterday. The Ranger District office will be open again to serve the public as soon as repairs and cleanup has been completed, possibly as soon as Thursday morning.
Employees discovered that over the President’s Day weekend a pipe carrying sewage and gray water had frozen and backed up the unsanitary water into the building. "The damage is minimal," said Big Piney District Ranger Kurt Davis. "We do want to address any health and safety concerns before opening again to serve the public," he said. Ranger Davis believes Thursday is the earliest the office will reopen.
Public looking for assistance in the Big Piney area may call the Bridger-Teton at 307-739-5500, or visit the Pinedale Ranger District located 40-minutes from Big Piney in the town of Pinedale.
