Sleigh Ride

Dr. Tom Johnston hitched up Maybelle for a sleigh ride on his ranch near Pinedale on Wednesday. Doc raises Morgans and has won numerous competitions with his horses. This morning, the snow was lightly falling, the sleigh bells were ringing, and it was a lovely day for a sleigh ride!

Getting used to the reins again Doc takes Maybelle out for a dry run before hooking up the sled. It has been a couple of years since the 20-year old mare has been asked to pull a sleigh through the snow.	Warm Up Maybelle is very well trained to respond to verbal commands for pulling the sleigh.	Hitching up Maybelle Doc hitches Maybelle up to the sleigh.
Cold air Maybelle's breath is visible in the cold air.	Front bell A single bell dangles from Maybelle's front breast strap. Other bells and on the sled and horse harness.	Shaft Bells All of the bells have a delightful jingle as the sleigh moves. Doc trains his horses from when they are very young to get used to bells tied to their harnesses.
Sissy is ready to ride 13-year old yellow lab, Sissy, is ready to go for a ride.	Winter Wonderland Snow flakes add to the fun and atmosphere of a sleigh ride.	Having fun!
