New Greys River District Ranger selected

AFTON – Jacque Buchanan, Forest Supervisor for the Bridger-Teton National Forest, announced today that Adam Mendonca, has been selected as the new Greys River District Ranger. Mendonca comes to Wyoming from the Smoky Mountain Ranger District of the Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico.
Mendonca began his Forest Service career as a seasonal fire fighter on the Gila National Forest while pursuing a forestry degree from Northern Arizona University. After graduation, he continued to advance his fire career on the Gila National Forest until accepting an Assistant Fire Management Officer position on the Smokey Bear Ranger District on the Lincoln National Forest. About a year and a half later he transitioned into the district NEPA planner position which he has occupied since 2007. For the past four months he has served as the Acting District Ranger for the Smokey Bear Ranger District.
A native of Silver City, New Mexico, his passions include most outdoor activities; especially mountain biking and fishing. "I am very excited about the amount of water that the Bridger-Teton has compared to my current location." He will be making the move with his wife Charlie and their two-year old son Dakota. "I look forward to all of the experiences and opportunities that the Bridger-Teton National Forest and surrounding areas have to offer."
