The 2010 Sublette County Fair features the best of small town life, with lots of local entertainment and opportunities for regular folks to participate. Come down to the fairgrounds any time July 29 through August 8 to see plenty of familiar faces, and meet new friends too.

Locally-organized events are the core of Fair and provide guaranteed excitement, plus the chance to unwind, have fun, and quit worrying about the kind of hair day you’re having. Just a few of the home-grown events on tap:
• Demolition Derby
• Little Buckaroo Rodeo
• Pig Wrestling/Greased Pig Contest
• Open Horse Shows and Barrel Racing
• Ranch Horse Contest and Team Roping

If you like your excitement on the quiet side, there are countless exhibit hall categories for everyone from welders to gardeners to quilters!

And don’t forget the food. Between the Dutch Oven cook-off, chocolate dessert bake-off, and numerous concessions, everyone will have a chance to feast on genuine Sublette County cuisine (or die trying).

Kids Ag Connection/Ag in the Classroom is presented by local producers and will debut at Fair this year with hands-on demonstrations in animal care, geared especially for youngsters, but open to all. Learn about chickens, dairy and beef cattle, goats and sheep. Participants take home great info, a t-shirt and a book!

In addition to top-rated professionals from elsewhere, Fair hosts entertainment from Sublette County’s own. Country singer/songwriter Jared Rogerson’s latest CD, "Bad Hay," is making the rounds of western music stations. He will be entertaining fair-goers from the free stage Aug. 5 – 7 and performing at the Buyers’ Appreciation Luncheon on Sunday, Aug. 8. The all-ages free dance the night of Saturday, Aug. 7 is sponsored by the Green River Valley Land Trust, with the theme "Dance ‘Til the Cows Come Home." The faith-based Jonah Field Ministry presents "Faith, Family and Music" at regularly scheduled intervals, including Cowboy Church on Sunday, Aug. 8. And don’t miss the talent show, pet shows, and many 4-H/FFA youth contests, where the future of our community is apparent.

Lastly, Fair wouldn’t even happen without local volunteers, sponsors and donors, who provide the entertainers, contests, prizes, hours and elbow grease to keep Fair fun, safe, and running smoothly. Fair’s biggest support comes from the Sublette County Commissioners, our local government.

For all the details about events and contests, look in your Fair brochure, delivered to mailboxes last week, see your Fair Book, or go online to www.SubletteCountyFair.com.

The Sublette County Fairgrounds are located on US Highway 189 where it joins Wyoming Highway 351, just north of Marbleton. See you at the Fair!
