John Wells of Big Piney has launched his bid for the Republican nomination for Sublette County Sheriff. According to his new site on Facebook, Wells has been the South County Captain for the Sublette County Sheriff's Office since September of 2009.
"I have enjoyed the challenges of coming into a different agency," said Wells. "The deputies and office staff have been excellent to work with, they have shown me the ropes and I have given them leadership, support and friendship.
"My life started on a working cattle ranch in LaGrange Wyoming. I spent the first 28 years of my life ranching. I then changed my career to the trucking industry where I hauled cattle for almost 10 years, I then bought my own truck which I drove until my son was born and I decided that I would rather stay home more.
"I then went to work for the Goshen County Sheriff's office in April of 1992. I started in the Detention center and worked my way into a road position. I worked the road for sixteen and a half years rising to the rank of Sergeant in charge of the night shift. Sheriff Bardin and I met when we went through Detention Basic together in 1992. When he offered me the job of South County Captain I accepted and think it was one of the best career moves I could have made. I love this county and the people in it. The people I have worked with and the people I have talked with have all made me feel at home.
"I have worked very hard to make this department a place my fellow employees would be proud of. I think I have the leadership skills to keep this department moving forward and to keep the citizens of this county safe."
