The Hobbit

The Pinedale Fine Arts Council presented "The Hobbit" on Friday Jan. 15 in the Pinedale Auditorium. The production was performed by Theatre Sans Fil (theatre without strings), a French-Canadian company from Montreal. The classic story was presented using giant puppets which were controlled by puppeteers wearing all black. The show also featured intense lighting and booming sound giving all those in attendance their money's worth.

The Show The show used wild lighting including black lighting to give the production a unique look.	Thorin's dwarves Thorin's dwarves invade Bilbo Baggin's home early in the production.	Elrond Elrond, leader of the elves, in an early scene.
Smaug the dragon Smaug, the dragon, takes a sword to the chest in the show's final scene.	Puppeteers Puppeteers wore all black ninja-like outfits while manipulating the large puppets.	How the Puppets work Following the show, puppeteer Jean-Francois Leger explains how the puppets work using Gandalf as an example.
