The Pinedale Fine Arts Council is proud to present Montreal based puppet theater company Théâtre Sans Fil performing the Tolkien classic "The Hobbit" on January 15, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Pinedale Auditorium.
Who hasn't heard of Tolkien's superb trilogy of "The Lord of the Rings?" Montréal's Théâtre Sans Fil brings to life the story where it all began - "The Hobbit" - with the wonderful journey of Bilbo Baggins on his way to a new level of wisdom.
Théâtre Sans Fil's highly successful giant puppet adaptation of this award-winning Tolkien fantasy has received standing ovations throughout the world. This newly revived production has been completely redesigned with a new, larger-than-life look. It's a perfect event for both adults and kids.
Théâtre Sans Fil (theater without strings) creates fantasy and illusion utilizing giant puppets inspired by the classical technique of Japanese Bunraku theatre, united with original and modern set design, lighting, and music composed by musicians familiar with the art of puppetry.
Théâtre Sans Fil has given more than 3000 performances and brought close to three million spectators from more than 20 countries and four continents into the fantastic and enchanted world of its productions.
Fantasy, poetry, make-believe and magic have always figured strongly in TSF's texts, along with unusual and heroic characters. J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit" was created in 1979 and became an instant international success, including playing to sold-out houses at the 1984 Olympics.
This marks Théâtre Sans Fil’s second visit to Pinedale. In 2008, the group performed "Hansel & Gretel" at the Pinedale Auditorium to a packed house.
Tickets for the Jan. 15 performance are now on sale ($13 adults/$7 students) and are available at Rock Rabbit, Pony Express Photo, The Cowboy Shop, Office Outlets, the Big Piney Library and at the door the evening of the performance. Please note that tickets are $2 extra at the door.
Théâtre Sans Fil’s production of "The Hobbit" is presented by the Pinedale Fine Arts Council with supported in part by the Wyoming Arts Council through funding from the Wyoming Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts which believes a great nation deserves great art, Sublette BOCES, SCSD #1, The Sublette County Recreation Board, the Rocky Mountain Power Foundation and the Wyoming Community Foundation.
