Helps lower income households cover home heating costs
by Wyoming Department of Family Services
January 17, 2010

Applications for a home heating help program are being accepted through Feb. 28, according to the Wyoming Department of Family Services.

The program, called LIEAP (pronounced lee-ap), helps lower income households cover the costs of heating a home. Applicants can own or rent their home. Help is available to pay for electric, natural gas heat as well as propane, diesel heating oil, coal, wood and pellets.

More than 10,000 families in Wyoming are currently being served through the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP).

"Last winter, we helped 13,000 households in Wyoming through LIEAP, and we expect to meet or exceed that number this winter," said Brenda Ilg, LIEAP program coordinator for DFS. "We encourage people to apply for the program because there is still help available."

To get an application, visit your local DFS office or senior center, call 800-246-4221 or print an application at www.dfs.wy.gov.
