Happy Endings Animal Rescue hopes to win challenge for $10,000
Local pet adoption group operates entirely on donations

Happy Endings Animal Rescue (HEAR) is a 501 (c)3 non profit that operates entirely on donations. We also post animals that are available for adoption on a petfinder site, for additional exposure.
There are many rescues out there competing for these grants. There are many aspects to animal rescue. The foremost of course is to find homes for homeless pets.
Currently our policy is to spay/neuter and vaccinate all animals in our rescue program. This is expensive. We accept donations from owners that are relinquishing pets and from folks who wish to adopt in an attempt to keep the costs down. However, animals that are strays that find their way to us are another story. If found in the city limits, the stray is technically a Town of Pinedale Animal Control issue. If found outside city limits but in Sublette County, the County does help the vets with the canines, however there is no help for felines. And there is a large population of cats in this county! HEAR attempts to work under this umbrella, however there are times when the vets are full and strays find us or an owner needs to relinquish a pet but is financially unable to contribute. The cost to take a cat to the vet, test for contagious disease, vaccinate and spay or neuter can run into the hundreds of dollars. Other than very young feral kittens, we try to find the cat(s) a home. But this is costly. (Feral cats older than 2 or 3 months are hard to socialize.)
So, our long range plan is to have a facility of our own where we will be able to take in strays without it being a financial burden.
HEAR is a young organization but hopes to be able to grow. We are also looking for other grant opportunities.
