Eighteen wolves killed in control

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports:
"On 8/20/09, WY Wildlife Services completed control by removing 6 wolves from the Black Butte Pack, north of Pinedale, WY. The pack had injured 1 guard dog and killed 1 yearling steer and 37 sheep.
"On 8/21/09, WY Wildlife Services completed depredation control by removing 5 wolves from the Dog Creek pack in the Snake River drainage south of Jackson, WY. The pack had killed >45 sheep and 3 guard dogs.
"Wildlife Services removed 2 wolves from the Absaroka Pack on 8/25/09 after 2 adult cows were killed. Control is done for now, but will resume if more cattle are killed.
"A total of 18 wolves have been removed in control actions in Wyoming from January through August 28, 2009."
