2009 District History Day
by Jonita Sommers
March 12, 2009
Sublette County schools participated in District History Day in Big Piney on Thursday, March 12, 2009. Star Valley High School from Lincoln County also participated.
Students presented a variety of projects on subjects of their own choosing, and centered on this year’s theme, "The Individual in History: Actions and Legacies." Presentations took place at the Green River Valley Museum and Big Piney Library. The awards ceremony was held at the Marbleton Town Hall.
District competition coordinator, Jonita Sommers of Big Piney, was assisted by Ann Noble and Nancy Colton in planning the competition. Numerous volunteers from around the county judged the competition. BLM archeologist Dave Crowley was the guest speaker at the awards ceremony, giving a presentation about the Lander Trail.
Students placing in the top three of their division will now advance to state competition to be held at the University of Wyoming in Laramie on April 20.
