by Pinedale Fine Arts Council
January 9, 2009
The Pinedale Fine Arts Council is proud to present the flamenco dance troupe Calo Flamenco live Thursday, January, 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Pinedale Auditorium.
Calo Flamenco: Ballet De Martin Gaxiola is rooted in traditional flamenco, an interplay of four elements: dancing, instrumentation, singing and palmas (handclaps). The troupe features musicians, singers and dancers including Calo’s director and choreographer Martin Gaxiola who brings a fresh approach and fresh ideas to the dance form.
Gaxiola founded the group in 2003 out of a deep desire to express his creative talents within an ensemble setting. After bringing together talented dancers and musicians, Gaxiola forged ahead with a vision that has since taken the dance community by storm.
In flamenco, "duende" is said to be a motivational and uniting force among the performers on stage. Audiences who experience a Calo Flamenco performance are not only mesmerized by the raw energy emanating from the stage but also come to understand and appreciate the unique relationships that make flamenco such an electrifying art form.
Tickets for the Jan. 15 performance are on sale now ($13 adults/$7 students) and are available at Rock Rabbit, Pony Express Photo, The Cowboy Shop, Office Outlets, the Big Piney Library and at the door the night of the performance ($1 extra).
