Ralph A. Najarro
September 28, 2008
24-year old Ralph A. Najarro was killed on Thursday, September 25th on US 189 approximately 28 miles northeast of Evanston.
According to a report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Najarro was southbound on US 189 driving a 2006 Dodge Ram pickup around 8:50 am. For reasons unknown his vehicle crossed over the center line going into the northbound lane of travel. Danny A. Wimp, age 61 from Riverton, was pulling an empty flatbed trailer in the lane driving a 2007 Peterbilt truck-tractor. Wimp braked hard in an attempt to avoid the collision, however the two vehicles collided head-on in the northbound lane of travel.
Najarro’s vehicle came to rest off the roadway in the barrow ditch and Wimp’s tractor trailer combination came to rest blocking both north and southbound lanes of travel. US 189 was temporarily closed until Troopers were able to get traffic around the crash site.
Najarro died later at 2:29 p.m. at Mountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Wimp was treated and released from Evanston Regional Hospital. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
This accident is Fatal #112 for 2008 in Wyoming.
