The Laramie area is under Tornado Watches and Warnings. (Thursday, May 22, 2008, 3:24PM). At least one massive tornado swept across northern Colorado's Front Range today killing at least one person and destroying buildings. Golf-ball size hail was reported near those storms. 4:53 Update: WYDOT Update - Interstate 80 westbound between Cheyenne and Laramie, US 30 north of Laramie and US 287 south of Laramie are now open. The highways were closed at about 3:20 p.m. today due to severe weather and tornado warnings and watches posted for the area. Several vehicles on I-80 in the Laramie area were damaged by high winds beginning at about 1:16 p.m. The Wyoming Highway Patrol reported at least three tractor-trailer combinations blown over or damaged by the winds. Photos at right were caught on WYDOT Interstate 80 webcam this afternoon. These incidents occurred roughly one mile west of the base of Telephone Canyon on I-80 in the eastbound lane during the height of the storm. In the same area, roof materials were blown onto the roadway and several billboards were knocked down or damaged.

4:26 PM Update: Tornado Warning changed to Tornado Watch for southeast Wyoming area.

3:24 PM Update: Interstate 80 westbound between Cheyenne and Laramie, US 30 north of Laramie and US 287 south of Laramie all are closed due to severe weather and a forecast that includes continued potential for tornadoes.

Several vehicles on I-80 in the Laramie area were damaged by high winds beginning at about 1:16 p.m. The Wyoming Highway Patrol reported at least three tractor-trailer combinations blown over or damaged by the winds. No serious injuries have been reported as a result of the incidents.
