by Wyoming Game & Fish Department
March 14, 2008
Hunters interested in getting a heads up on Wyoming Game and Fish Department proposals for 2008 hunting seasons and quotas are invited to attend any of the eight public meetings to be held throughout the state the first week of April.
During these information-gathering meetings, the Game and Fish will be soliciting input on all big game species, mountain lion, bison and on general hunting regulations. In addition, comments are being taken on proposed turkey, upland bird and small game and early migratory seasons and the Light Goose Conservation Order. Comments will also be taken on late migratory seasons for future consideration.
Chief Game Warden Jay Lawson said Game and Fish personnel are now in the process of monitoring and evaluating the effects the winter is having on wildlife. Lawson said some areas could have reduced quotas from last year on deer and antelope licenses dependant on the results of late winter wildlife surveys.
The Game and Fish is also proposing to add language to officially include the National Elk Refuge in the bison hunting regulations.
