BLM Swear-In Ceremony March 5

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Pinedale Field Office will swear-in Chuck Otto as the new Field Manager and Shane Wasem as the Law Enforcement Ranger at 1:30 p.m. (note time correction) on Wednesday, March 5, 2008.
Otto has been the field manager in Pinedale since July, 2007. His career with the BLM started in 1976, as a wild horse wrangler in Rock Springs, Wyo. He has worked as a forester and outdoor recreation planner in Wyoming and Nevada, as well as serving as the team leader for the Blackleaf Oil and Gas Environmental Impact Statement in Great Falls, Montana. Otto has also served as the Chief of Planning and Environmental Coordination for the Lewistown District in Montana and the area manager for the Lewistown Field Office from 1990-1998. Most recently, Otto was the BLM’s Deputy Division Chief for the Division of Planning and Science in Washington, D.C. before accepting the Field Manager position in Pinedale.
“I am honored to be a part of the Pinedale Field Office,” said Otto. “We have an outstanding staff and I look forward to continue working with them, as well as the state and local governments and all the people who enjoy and rely upon their public lands.”
Wasem is BLM Pinedale’s first law enforcement ranger and has been on duty since November, 2007. Before coming to Pinedale, Wasem worked with the U.S. Forest Service in fire, timber, and law enforcement for over twenty years. He has an Associate of Science degree in Forest Technology and attended the Federal Law Enforcement Academy as well as numerous other Federal and state specialized law enforcement training courses. He enjoys the outdoors and looks forward to protecting public lands in the Pinedale area.
