EnCana Oil & Gas (USA) Inc. encourages high school seniors who are pursuing a degree in engineering, geology or geophysics at a four-year university, to apply for its High School Scholarship Program. The scholarships can also be applied at a two-year college, including technical or trade schools related to the oil and gas industry, such as Production Technology, Heavy Equipment Operator or Land Administration.
The scholarship award – $2,500 per year for up to four years – is awarded annually to one graduating student in each school district within EnCana’s areas of operations, including: Green River, Rock Springs, Farson-Eden, Big Piney, Pinedale, Riverton, Wind River, Arapahoe, Shoshoni and St. Stephens high schools.
“The oil and gas industry is constantly growing and in need of highly skilled and trained workers,” said EnCana Community Investment Advisor Joyce Witte. “EnCana’s High School Scholarship Program is an opportunity for high school students to focus on their education, and it supports the overall effort of developing the workforce in Wyoming. Our scholarship program is an investment in Wyoming and its youth.”
High school seniors who have demonstrated a solid academic record and community involvement, and plan on being a full-time student are eligible to apply. Individual school districts will review applications and select recipients.
The applications deadline is April 1, 2008.
Last year’s scholarship recipients were:
Nathan Stroud of Pinedale High School
Christopher Melson of Rock Springs High School
