Pinedale BLM to host Blood Drive Jan. 18

After a life-threatening car accident, Kathy Gunderman, Assistant Field Manager of the BLM Pinedale Field Office, was saved by a blood transfusion. Since her accident, Gunderman has taken steps to save others. With Gunderman leading the way, the BLM and United Blood Services of Rock Springs, Wyo. have begun hosting biannual blood drives. The next blood drive will be Friday, Jan. 18, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Pinedale Field Office. ]
The blood drive is open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are encouraged.
Please bring a photo ID, a list of medications taken in the past month and social security number or United Blood Services assigned donor number. Donors must weigh at least 110 lbs. and be 17 years of age or older.
Certain restrictions apply to those interested in participating, including persons that are experiencing cold or flu symptoms on the day of donation; acquired hepatitis after the age of 11; have been pregnant in the past six weeks; or have been at risk for HIV exposure. Tips before donating include eating well and drinking plenty of water 24 hours beforehand, as well as limiting caffeine consumption on the day of the donation.
