Wyoming is in the spotlight like never before, with the GOP’s decision to hold its county conventions statewide on Saturday, January 5, 2008. At those conventions 12 delegates and 12 alternate delegates will be elected to the national convention. National media will be waiting for results that evening, broadcasting the results from the nation’s first county conventions in the presidential election cycle.
That means that presidential candidates want to personally meet each county's precinct committeemen and committeewomen who will be doing the voting. To facilitate this, the Wyoming Republican Party is hosting two presidential forums on Saturday, Sept. 29. One forum will be in Casper (for eastern-side members), while the other will be held in Riverton (for the western portion of the state).
Precinct committee members will have the opportunity for one-on-one contact with the Republican candidatese. GOP precinct members from Sublette County will be traveling to the Riverton session, to be held at Central Wyoming College, starting at 5 p.m.
The forums are free and open to the public. There will be a social event for precinct people, a public presentation by the candidates, and a question-and-answer session.
