Coach Eskelsen's comments:
Typical Big Piney/Pinedale game with hard hitting and neither team wanting to give the other guy yardage on offense.
I thought both teams played extremely hard and both used good defenses. If you like to watch defensive struggles, this was good.
For Big Piney, I thought our controlled rush on QB Raney worked well to limit his scrambling ability. Our defensive secondary played great and ended with three picks and some great hits that eventually took the concentration away from the Pinedale receivers. Salute to first year senior Aaron Camis who replaced injured started Mike Forrester and played nearly flawlessly at his corner position. Stat-wise, John Colton led in tackles and had an interception to his credit. Nick Mackie and Taylor Moceika had 8 tackles each as did Ben Howard. The interior line of Greg Eiden, Taylor Moceika and Cameron Pedersen did a good job of putting the rush on the Pinedale quarterbacks.
Offensively, Big Piney struggled moving the ball after its first possession. The blitzing Pinedale team gave our line fits especially in the 2nd half. We still need to find consistency and understand the assignments. We also will rely more on our passing game which is getting better as we go on with our last three games.
The win almost insures a play-off berth for the Punchers and hopefully we can work into a first round home game. Homecoming is this week with Thermopolis coming to Big Piney for a 3:00 Friday game.
