December 4, 2006

The Museum of the Mountain Man hosted their 13th annual Wreath and Chocolate Auction on Friday, December 1, at Rendezvous Pointe in Pinedale. The event is an important fundraiser for the Museum, which uses the proceeds to help fund programs and projects for the museum throughout the year. This year's auction was the biggest ever for the Museum in attendance and money raised.

Some people who were not able to attend the auction asked us to take pictures of all the wreaths and post them online so they could see them. A couple wreaths came in late and we didn't realize it, but most of them are here in this photo story.

Members of the community generously donate many beautiful wreaths, swags and chocolate delights. First Bank was the sponsor for the event donating money to cover the costs of food and refreshments. There were 33 wreaths donated and 22 silent auction chocolate baskets.

Approximately 200 people attended the event. Jay Fear was auctioneer. Fred Pape and Charlie Lopman held the wreaths for people in the audience to see. All are borad members on the Sublette County Historical Society, the parent organization of the Museum.

Those attending the Wreath Auction were given star stickers to cast their vote for the “People’s Choice Award” wreaths. The crowd favorite wreaths were donated by High Mountain Real Estate, Sage & Snow Garden Club and Allen Agency Real Estate.

On a suggestion by Karen Olsen of Encana, EnCana and Shell Oil Companies donated seven wreaths back into the auction and allowed them to be auctioned off a second time, adding even more money into the auction contributions.
