Getting ready for opening day
The day before opening at White Pine Ski Area

White Pine Ski Resort was a busy place the day before Opening Day for the 2006-2007 winter season. Photographer Pam McCulloch went up to see the preparations before skiers and snowboarders hit the slopes.

At right, a snow making machine is positioned and ready to use. The machine can only be operated if the air temperature is 24 degrees or lower. White Pine work crews will run it the middle of the night when temperatures are optimum to add to the natural snow base.

Safety Signs Extra signs for precautions are up early in the season since all the runs are not open yet.	Getting skis ready Roger Gardner mounts bindings on a pair of skis in the ski shop on the lower level of the lodge.	Great view from the Bar Skiers can enjoy a drink in the Bar on the 3rd level of the lodge. There is a great view from the deck to watch skiers on the lifts and coming down the hill.
Lunch is ready Lunch is served daily at the White Pine Grill in the lodge.
