Green River Rendezvous 2006
July 9, 2006

The Green River Rendezvous is held each year on the second weekend in July in Pinedale. It is our biggest event of the year, a celebration reliving the era of the fur traders and trappers who made their living in our Green River Valley in the early 1800s.

Rendezvous is like a 4-day party in Pinedale, with many activities and events taking place along the mountain man theme. Highlights include a parade on Saturday, Trader's Row, Craft Fair and Art Show, and the always awesome Rendezvous Pageant on Sunday.

Highlights include a parade, three days of rodeo, an arts and crafts fair downtown, Trader's Row, a pie sale, pancake breakfast, beer fest, and the 70th annual Rendezvous Pageant.

Each year, the Museum of the Mountain Men brings the American Mountain Men and noted historians and speakers to Pinedale to give living history demonstrations and programs about the fur trade era. Fur trade history expert Dr. Fred Gowans, Historian in Residence at the Museum, gave a presentation and field trip about South Pass.

The American Mountain Men and Dr. Gage Skinner returned this year to give talks about the daily lives of the mountain men and significance of the Rocky Mountain fur trade era. Lapita Frewin did children's programs, drawing a huge crowd of kids eager to take part in her fun activities.

Native American Historian, Ethnologist and costume replica maker Michael Terry returned once again to give talks about Plains Indian culture. His talks always draw a huge crowd and he is a local favorite and has been an integral part of Rendezvous for many years.
