New BLM hotline to report damage to public lands
by Bureau of Land Management
July 10, 2006

The new Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) toll free phone line makes it easy for the public to report any person damaging public lands in Wyoming. Call in and receive a $250 reward for reported information that leads to the conviction of a suspect conducting road vehicle violations, vandalism, or any other criminal activity on public lands.

"A positive aspect of the new phone line is that it helps get the public involved in protecting their public land," says BLM Wyoming Special Agent-in-Charge, Michael Miller. "The phone line offers an easy way to report any suspicious activity occurring on the land."

Criminal violations may include unauthorized road vehicle use, tampering with wild horses, archeological and fossil artifact theft, oil and gas theft, and any other harmful or irresponsible activities.

Numerous decals comprised of specific information, including the BLM contact number, will be distributed on posting stakes located on public land throughout the state of Wyoming. Contact the 24 hours a day BLM phone service at 1-888-358-2310.

For more information call Michael Miller at 307-775-6266, or Kristen Lenhardt, Office of External Affairs, at 307-775-6103.
